A Franklin woman is accused of trying to shoot a man to death at a New Year’s Eve party in Clearcreek Twp.

Olivia Marie Clendenin, 28, pleaded not guilty during her Tuesday arraignment before Warren County Common Pleas Judge Robert Peeler for a wide range of charges — attempted murder, two counts of felonious assault, improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation, improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, using weapons while intoxicated, and a misdemeanor count of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

Her attorney Nicholas Gounaris said it was too early to comment on the case at this point.

“On January 1, 2024, in Clearcreek Township, defendant attempted to cause the death of another by shooting a firearm from a motor vehicle,” a grand jury report released Monday read. “Defendant caused serious physical harm to the person shot and was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs at the time of the offense.”

Clearcreek Twp. police were dispatched around 5 a.m. Jan. 1 to the 5500 block of Dearth Road for a report of a drive-by shooting. The house is about a mile south of Springboro High School and a mile west of Ohio 741.

When officers arrived, they found a 29-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

The party was at the home of Clendenin’s boyfriend, who invited several people for a New Year’s Eve party, including Clendenin’s estranged husband, Clearcreek police Lt. Wallace Stacy said previously.

Stacy said that when Clendenin showed up, she apparently was angry with both men for hanging out together. After she left the party, “she drove through the front yard and fired shots toward the house.”

There were people both inside and outside the house at the time of the shooting. The man hit by gunfire was standing on the porch and had not been involved in any arguments with Clendenin, Stacy said.

After the shooting, Clendenin crashed her mother’s 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee a short distance away in the 3800 block of McLean Road in Franklin Twp. A Warren County Sheriff’s Office crash report stated Clendenin struck a guardrail and utility pole at a curve.

Clendenin is on electronic home detention after posting $200,000 bail.

A no-contact order is in effect for the witnesses in the case.

Clendenin is next due in court March 12 for a pretrial hearing and scheduling conference, according to court records.
